A one-day tour to Hrauneyjar which lies at the centre of the forbidding Icelandic highlands. Our route leads first through the Thjórsádalur Valley stopping at Hjálparfoss,
one of Iceland’s loveliest waterfalls, before continuing into the extraordinary mountainscape to the water-filled Ljótipollur crater and the hot springs of the Landmannalaugar oasis.
This is your opportunity to bathe in the natural hot waters or join an included short guided hike before heading for active Mount Hekla, the queen of Icelandic volcanoes.
Weather and geological conditions allowing we will drive to a height of 950 meters up the side of the volcano to capture the astounding views. Return to Reykjavík in time for dinner. Depending on the season and weather there is every chance you will see either the Midnight Sun or the Northern Lights
