Iceland’s and in fact Europe’s largest national park with its main attraction the Vatnajökull glacier certainly has a lot to offer when it comes to adventure and amazing views. This popular weekend package combines all of the most awesome activities, hikes and sights that we offer. A great value experience packed visit to the largest glacier outside the Polar Regions. You will hike on the amazing Fjallsjökull outlet glacier, sail on the Glacier Lagoon, stand on the peak of Kristínartindar Mountain, gaze upon the endless ice fields and Iceland’s highest peak and mountain bike on the black sand beaches.. and believe it or not, there is more!
Departures:
Every Thursday starting at 8:30 AM from the BSI bus terminal from the 1st of June – 31st of August. Make sure you book your spot on the tour with good notice.
Rough Itinerary:
Thursday: Transfer from Reykjavik via Landamannalaugar to Skaftafell and an evening hike to the Svartifosswaterfall.
Friday: Hiking the Kristínartindar Mountain.
Saturday: Glacier hiking and sailing on the Glacier Lagoon.
Sunday: Mountain bike tour in Skaftafell and transfer back to Reykjavik at 13:20 PM.

Price: 44.990 ISK
Includes a transfer from Reykjavík to Skaftafell and back. Includes a packed lunch on day 2 and 3. Does not include flights, dinners or accommodation.
We can book accommodation at the Reykjavik Backpackers for your nights in
Reykjavik.
Duration of trip: 4 days.
Age limit: 14 years*.
Day 1 / Thursday
On Thursday morning you will head out with the TREX bus no. 18 from the BSÍ bus terminal cruising all the way to Landmannalaugar hot springs where the bus stops briefly and then continues the beautiful Fjallabak (behind the mountains) mountain track all the way down to road one and then onwards to Skaftafell. Once in Skaftafell you have time to settle into your accommodation (not included) and eat dinner before we go for walk up to the spectacular Svartifoss waterfall with its black hexagonal basalt columns.
Day 2 / Friday
On Friday morning we will start early for the the hike to the top Mt. Kristínartindar from which we will have unsurpassed views over the Vatnajökull glacier, Skaftafell and Iceland’s highest peak, the Hvannadalshnúkur. On the way we will hike through the national park with an expert guide gaining an in depth understanding of the park before we scale the flanks of the mountain and loop back a different way down to Skaftafell. This is a great mountain hike in breathtaking surroundings (no pun intended : )
Day 3 / Saturday
You will visit the most breathtaking and inspiring nature that Vatnajökull National Park has to offer. Wander along the Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon and then on to the glacier tongue itself, Fjallsjökull, where you will find yourself surrounded by spectacular ice formations and crevasses. Then take a boat ride on the world famous Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where you will sail among enormous icebergs with Europe’s largest glacier in the background.
Day 4 / Sunday
Early start as we embark on our last adventure, mountain biking ….this is still to be made:::!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Schedule:
Thursday: 8:30 AM from the BSI bus terminal in Reykjavik on bus 18/18a. Hike to Svartifoss at 20:00 PM.
Friday: 8:30 AM for Hiking Mt. Kristínartindar, back in Skaftafell at 16:00
Saturday: 8:30 AM for Glacier Hike & Sailing, back in Skaftafell at 17:00
Sunday: 8:30 AM for MTB tour and transfer back to Reykjavik @13:20 from the Skafatafell visitors center.
